can anyone tell me if i am entitled to statutory sick pay, as this is my 1st week of sick my doctor wont give me a certificate but at work they say im not entitled to sick pay how can this be so, i thought after 3 days sick you were entitled to something at least.

sorry, i read your question wrong - Your dr doesnt have to give you a certificate, you can self-certificate yourself. Go into the dr's and pick up the form, fill it in and give it to your employer, alternatively you can pay the GP for a doctors certificate (5 or 6 pound, cant remember) Your employee should pay you statutory sick pay, unless there is something written in your contract. Check your contract and quote that to your employer also. Employer contract contravention is naughty and should be raised asap!
