Browser Settings Changed Unbeknownst To Me.

I am using Firefox with Windows Vista. Recently every time I go onto the internet a box comes up at the bottom right of the screen saying that a change has been applied to my browser settings and asking yes or no as to whether I accept it. However even if I click yes or no the box doesn't disappear and I just keep closing it. Is there any way to find out what is causing this?

This problem seems to be related to the maintenance service program associated with Firefox.

Downloading and installing the latest version of Firefox 'on top of itself' (i.e. without uninstalling first) is likely to fix your problem [while retaining all of your bookmarks, settings, etc].

Alternatively, simply resetting Firefox (via Help > Troubleshooting Information) will do the same thing. (Note, however, that you'll need to reinstall any extensions you might have, such as AdBlock Plus).

To prevent the problem occurring again, go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Updates and change from the 'Automatic' setting to 'Check for updates . . ."

Thanks Chris, the first thing didn't sort it but the second did and then I did the third for good measure.
