No, but my ex took the biscuit. She took our draft wills with her to the airport and found two total strangers, who were sitting together, to witness them. She then posted them before going airside to have two large gins in about ten minutes before boarding.

Quite a few years ago we flew from Leeds/Bradford and the captain announced that we should keep our seatbelts fastened there was some turbulence. Then the pilot announced that a fault had developed and we were to land at Heathrow to wait for an engineer. After a few clunks and knocks for around 40 mins the engineer got on board and we set off again. Then we hit turbulence again, everyone was praying (the religious) 'Oh God' etc (the non religious) O feck it, we're going to die'. Shortly after that the pilot announced he was dumping his fuel and turning back to Heathrow. We were held up for four and a half hours waiting for another plane to take us. By that time I'd nearly lost, it I didn't want to fly again. I think the engineer should have been jettisoned with the fuel. I'm not too bad now I just hate the take-off and landing.

I am not scared of flying but don't particularly like the take off.

I hate air travel now, not because of the flying but because of the hastle of airports these days. However, sometimes it is necessary. I find the journey itself absolutely mind blowingly uncomfortable and boring.

A very casual announcement for the Captain on a flight into Heathrow from Athens once was "Regrettably we are having to stack for a while because of the amount of flights in at the moment. I THINK we have enough fuel to last for a while. ;O)

A couple of people have mentioned Gibraltar, that was quite a landing, especially over the Bay, they had to keep away from the Spanish side as they lost height and turned to lineup, they were known to overshoot and get their feet wet.
When we were becalmed sailing off the end of the runway, we could always rely on a departing Trident to give us some help!
