Is this to do his business? As he refuses to go in his litter tray for a number 2.. No idea where he goes! He has some really stinky farts but im worried he may not be going.. Woyld he be in pain if he wasnt? His tummy feels normal, doesnt feel bloated or anything.. But is this what he wakes me up for? As i dont mind getting up for that.. Most of the sites ive read say its to get attention or food.. Nothing about needing the loo!

Our cat always gets up some food and a trip outside at about three or four in the morning. He can't be ignored.

He won't be in any pain, just likes going out at night.

Cats are very particular about their toilet habits - so don't be surprised if he doesn't want to use the litter tray.
my dog needs to pee every night between 10 to and 10 past midnight....he can have gone out at 11pm and still need a midnight wee.....

I just worry he could be constipated or have an upset tummy and not know about it.. Little monkeys arnt they! Something outside spooked him recently so he doesnt like to go out for long but he still insists on waking me at silly o'clock!
FurMonster, I know this is your first kitty, but you will soon come to realise that cats are terrific creatures of habit - if this is his going-out time, that's his going-out time. Ours wake us around 0630 every morning for their breakfasts, and as soon as they have eaten, they go out. One comes back quickly, the other two hang around outside for ages.

Don't fret about his pooing. Cat farts are evil at times. He'd be off colour if he wasn't pooing and weeing, he'd soon tell you. I think you've becoming a bit over-anxious about his pooing, and he's not going to tell you where he does it - if you try to follow him to track it down, he won't do it. As long as he's eating and drinking well, he's fine - don't worry!

Thanks Box.. :)
They like going out at night because they are nocturnal hunters.

There are all sorts of things scurrying around, and they get pleasure trying to see what is making the noise (and catch it if they can)
Has he got a catflap, furry? When your baby comes, you won't want the risk of Kitty pressuring you to go out, as well as all the baby issues.

I am sure you know that pregnant ladies have to be very careful in dealing with the stuff in cat litter trays - I hope you're getting your OH to empty it....
PS the risk is particularly to do with cat poo and Kitty doesn't use the tray, but better to be on the safe side....
Boxtops beat me to it - I was going to ask if you had a cat flap fitted ??
cats are creatures of habit. and they like going out at dawn to explore the outside world. that's all! x
I have come close to throttling my lovely furry alarm clocks a few times.

Maybe he does do a number two outside and since its a kitten he may just be getting into a routine. Hope this helps
5.55am ON THE DOT every single day, how do they know?? Im sure he has a little pocket watch! He comes in the bedroom and starts meowing and if im not out of that bed within 10 seconds he starts clawing at the carpet! Little s0d!!!! I have to get up, feed him and then off out he goes to do his people watching on the garden wall. LOVE cats!! They are so funny and full of character!

He drives me crackers.. Ive tried leaving him to meow but 90mins later hes still at it.. Its a good job i love him to bits!.. Not allowed a cat flap or im sure that would have solved my problem long ago.. Lol.. And yes Box, my other half does the tray.. Already been warned about that one!!.. And all the daft superstitions that come with buggies and crap.. Lol.. Thanks everyone.
