Help Spilt Tea!!!

I have just upset a cup of tea on laptop keyboard,it is still operating and I just turned it upside down to drain any,will it be safe to continue using and will there be any lasting problems?

You should not continue using it until you are sure it has dried out completely. You could use a hair drier to help with this. However I would expect you will have problems with the keyboard at least, especially if their was sugar in the tea.

Just noticed it's a laptop. If it's working still then it'll probably be safe but of course laptop keyboards, being integral, could allow the fluid to get elsewhere. Might be best to turn it off and let it dry.

How many spoons of sugar you have in your tea could be significant here. ;-)

Do your best to dry it by leaving upside down on a towel and then pop in airing cupboard.

Take out as many parts as you can (battery, DVD drive etc).

Leave it spread open and turn it upside down (keyboard / screen face down) to dry out overnight.

Because many of the electical components are just under the keyboard it can have lasting problems, and you may find the keyboard stays sticky.

I did this a few years ago (spilt a bowl of corn flakes over my laptop) and now NEVER eat or drink anything near my desktop PC or laptop.

Good morning as you can see all ok at the moment,I followed advice given for which I thank-you all very much,whether there will be long term damage remains to be seen,fingers crossed.First time I have ever given a blow-dry to a machine!Thank-you all again.
