Savings Time Limit

Me and few friends ( approx 8-10 in total) are planning to go on a long weekend away to somewhere like Barcelona , Hamburg, Warsaw etc in march/April 2014. That gives us about 14 months to save up.

A lot of my friends don't have a problem saving up as they earn a fair bit more than me. I have to work out how much and when I'm going to save. I've worked out if I put £100 away from May to December I'll have £800 and we not planning on going till the march/april .

Does that sound like enough to cover whole cost of trip, flight, accommodation and spends for the weekend??

I'm also willing to look for budget deals like group on or something like that but my mates don't seem to be bothered about forking out whatever it costs.

There are usually quite cheap flights to Barcelona because it's served by 3 airports, (Barcelona El Prat, Reus and Girona) so there's plenty of competition among airlines. Central and East European destinations also tend to have cheap flights (because they're not as popular as 'sunshine resorts'). With luck you might be able to get return flights for under £100 but I'd budget £150 to £200 to be on the safe side.

Assuming a 'long weekend' to be from, say, Friday morning to Monday evening, that's just 3 nights accommodation needed and you shouldn't need to spend more than £50 per night. This website should help:

So, £150 + £150 = £300, giving you £500 left over to spend in 4 days. Bloody 'ell, just how much are you expecting to drink, BBB???

The other thing to think about with the cheaper flights to Reus and Girona (Barcelona) is that they are a bit further out, Girona is 1hrs drive away from Barcelona, so take that extra travel into account. I guess there will be transport from the airports to the city.

There are direct buses from both Girona and Reus into central Barcelona, with both just taking 'an hour and a bit'.
