Symantec Norton Virus protection is out of date popup

A window keeps popping up saying this every 5 mins. It says open your norton product to resolve these issues. There is a box to tick that says to prevent duplicate security status alerts use my existing norton product alerts and turn off redundant windows security center alerts.

I have ticked this box but it seems to make no difference. I have changed one or two things in norton but i still cant stop this window popping up. I do not wish to resubscribe to norton but wish to continue to enjoy the free services it still offers after subscription expires.

an out of date norton is a danger to your system. certain spyware trojans look for norton features that are disabled to sneak into your computer through nortons programing.I recommend un-installing norton completely and using a free program like 'Avast home 4' or 'AVG'.

Thanks Bob. I have AVG. I tried renewing norton but they emailed a subscription key that is invalid. I have therefore requested a refund, however I can't now seem to work out how to uninstall norton as- I've disabled it but the popups are still coming. If i go to remove programmes then only liveupdate is there and I am unable to remove it. Please help

uninstall norton, everything related to it on your system. so after which, you have no firewall, no spyware protection, no anti-virus.

If you are having trouble unnistalling norton open the task manager, and manually close all process that are 'norton' or 'symantec' then use add/remove programs on the control panel.
There might be several different programs on the list so play around until you find what ones to do first.
