I don't know whether those hints helped, but 'spanish horses' baffles me.
The article is 'the' and it has an anagram in it of what a leg is.
As for the 'fish', I take it to be what you catch fish on. Sorry if I'm just stating the obvious. Perhaps you've already worked it all out yourself.
