I reset the counter on my R300 by unplugging the power cord then while holding down the
POWER STOP and MAINTENANCE buttons simultaneously while replugging the power cord caused a reset to zero on the counter. You will still have to replace the pads or redirect the waste ink tube to a receptacle on the outside of the printer, hope this helps?

There won't be a tank. There will be pads. Look for a waste ink tank on the internet for your printer model. Get it and follow the instructions that come with it to replace your pads with a tank that mounts on the outside of your printer and connects via a tube to the ink discharge inside the printer. You can also get instructions and software to reset your ink counters inside the printer.
