If you want to add popping candy to cakes or desserts, when is the best time to do it. I imagine if its done too early it would pop too soon.

I would add it immediately before serving. If it absorbs moisture it will lose its pop.....I suspect.

Thanks eccles, thats what I thought but was'nt sure.
Never heard of popping candy, what is it like? I Googled it but still not sure what it might be.
We used to call it Space Dust.
Popping corn is just dried corn on the cob. Its what ready made pop corn is made from.

What I can't understand is why would you want to put it into a cake mixture ?
Surely it will explode when the cake is in the oven. If enough is put in, won't it blow the cake apart ?
Just seen my mistake...its popping candy, not corn...silly billy !
