Stomach Ache
28 Answers
I've had a dodgy stomach for a little while now. I haven't been to the doctors as I figured there's not much a doctor can do about stomach ache.
It's really weird though, and the only way I can describe it is like a hardening or tightening. No pain, more uncomfortable than anything. It's happening in the same place, between my belly button and breast bone. Literally that whole area.
What could it be and what would be the best thing to take?
Many thanks :-)

madmen - Good luck - be assertive but polite - If they ask you what your medical problem is say you would prefer that to remain between your GP and yourself but its causing you concerns which you believe were not addressed by the previous doctor you saw. If they say you can't see a different one ask to speak to the practice manager.

Madmen. I took gaviscon for a couple of weeks just recently because I had tummy problems, including indigestion, etc. It just didn't work. Doc has prescribed a pill to take once a day, Lansoprozole, and it has worked well. I am not suggesting you need the medicine I take, but just that it is worth discussing this with a GP. Constant tummy ache is something to see a GP about. Take care.
Madmen I hope you read this - google long term use of over the counter heartburn pills, they are ment for once in a blue moon type heartburn and not ment to be ate like sweets.
I know this as this is what I was doing, they make your body make more acid so your heartburn gets worse, as I ate more of them and I got worse and I ate more of them and I got worse ha ha see what I mean ..
I also hate my G.P but there was no option but to go as the pills I needed were only on perscription.

Arwyn, that's really interesting so thanks for posting that.
I think the way forward with the heartburn situation is to try and eat as alkaline as I can. I've got an appointment with the nurse on Thursday (for something else) so I'm going to mention it to her, and also the stomach ache. I can see a female doctor on Monday, so I'll probably have to do that, but I'll mention it anyway and see if she's got any suggestions.
Thanks to all for your help :-)
