Thunderbirds Coming Back In 2015 - Anyone Love The Original Series?

Just a few weeks after the great mans death (Gerry Anderson), ITV have announced they are producing 26 30min episodes of Thunderbirds for release in 2015. In one way im pleased that 50 years after the original its coming back to our screens. However after seeing the remake of Captain scarlet and the dire Thunderbirds movie from 2004 whether we would be better of remembering what a groundbreaking series the original really was. In those day it was models and marionettes, now it will be CGI. What do other AB'ers think?

WETA Studios are doing the effects so should be of a good standard

For kids, it won't matter whether it's puppets or CGI.; it's all 'real' to them!
(I'd watched dozens of episodes of Thunderbirds without even noticing that the characters were puppets until my mum mentioned it to me. I could hardly believe her!).

For adults, however, it just won't be the same :(

I always thought the acting was a bit wooden.

It was of its time - and you would not get away with puppets with the 'modern generation' of children.

The production was always amazing, as advised, so far ahead of its time.

I'm dreading it. Even though you can watch the old episodes and films with everyone smoking, trying to manually tune their car radios, and noticing how every restaurant in the world has the same chairs (!), it just won't be the same as having 'real' models. With CGI you can make anything up...just like a Tom and Jerry cartoon!...and I hate to think what they are going to do to my beloved TB2!
