http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000TEV88/202-5766041-8831052
It is not the cheapest but is excellent, has two scart sockets and came top in the Which report (along with the humax)
It can also stand vertically or horizontally so can fit in with your TV/DVD setup.
...mmm...I still use the original Pace thing and It still works great....I guess they all "work" but it depends what you are looking to do with it apart from watch Freeview channels..
For example with just a simple STB you can't record one Freeview Channel and watch a different one at the same time, though you can connect in such a way that you can watch "normal" tv at the same time as you record from the STB. Vhg and bobjim have a box which seems to do that with no problem.
The more sophisticated (more expensive) ones have dual tuners and hard drives which in some cases can record two different channels at the same time as you watch another digital channel which you recorded earlier on the HD....How COOL is that? Some also have paycard slots which allow for more channels to be added on a pay by the month basis..............It all boils down to what you want and what you can afford ..............As in K99's case a simple cheap and cheerful box does the job......hope you make the right choice..very important............Good luck.......commoner.
...Ahh....Aint technology wonderful.............<G> (big grin)

Thanks to all for your answers. We have had a Phillips box bought for us, and have sited it in the bedroom, but we are not getting all the channels that my daughter gets in the next room. Hers is connected to the main loft arial, while ours uses an indoor "one for all" arial. We can't even get channel 5, which we could before the box was attatched! We bought a booster plug, but that made no difference whatsoever, so we asked for your suggestions for when we take the flippin' freeview box back to Dixons!!
