I've heard this is a crime on the rise, and know of many people who think they have somehow been targetted...see my other post in the Internet an Technology section for more info....
Be careful if you buy a brand make like an Advent (PC World brand.) I bought an Advent 7045 about 14months ago. I had to get it replaced 5 times in 10 days because of faulty parts (ie - dead pixels, DVD-RW failurex2, modem failure & a full motherboard failure.) Unfortunately PC World buy all these parts seperatley from say Japan, Korea etc, and the compile all these parts into a laptop and sell it for cheap. But like me 14 months later with a total DVD&CD drive failure, these parts are impossible to resource. The cheapest I have found is nearly 200 without P&P from America to find a compatible part. PC World want over 375+VAT as the laptop is out of warranty. So my advice to you is get the warranty as the laptops aren't always as reliable as you would hope.....
Good luck.....
