sorry to be pedantic, but nowhere on any poll does it say majority, i expect there are lots of people who don't like this, or lots who don't care one way or the other, or indeed lots who won't say they are against it for fear of castigation. i don't care one way or the other, and i truly think that politicians of all sides have more important things to concern...

By the time of the next election it's doubtful this will even figure.
Cameron will have more prominent issues to defend against - such as the economy
The only harm this has done him is in revealing yet another split in the Tory parliamentary party as so many Tory MPs have shown themselves out of touch with the British electorate's relaxed attitude to marriage equality.
