why does he have to go tot he US - don't we have detoxes here?
Are they so different?
And if he is so broke that someone else is having to pay for it, who is paying for his intensive care treatment?

He went to America to get treatment, paid for by Gary Linekar, Chris Evans, etc, and what was the first thing he did whe he got off the plane? Went to a bar and had a pint. What a waste of an intensive care bed.

Well, his friends are bednobs, I would have thought. It certainly won't put much of a dent in their bank balances will it?

Is his detox not being handled properly? If carefully monitored, I thought that the withdrawal symptoms can be controlled.

I hope he can be saved though sadly I doubt it. He was the most talented English footballer we produced since sir bobby charlton.

Iluvspikey - did you read the article? It's very dangerous for an alcoholic such as Gazza to just stop drinking. So saying he's a waste of a bed because he was drinking before he was admitted to the clinic is a tad stupid.

He needs therapy - he is a very ill man. Alcoholism is an illness, he doesnt want to be like this.

From what I heard on the news, he was taken to hospital from the detox clinic and it was decided he should be admitted to Intensive Care, although it's not life-threatening.
I hope he's 'open' to accepting the help he needs.
