Towing on a motorway??

is it legal to tow a car which has broken down with just a towing rope on a motorway? thanks

You are allowed to tow but must come off at the next available junction.

Maximum length of rope 4.5 meters and it must be marked with a piece of rag or something if it's over 1.5m

Max speed 60 ( but the guy you're towing will probably throttle you when you stop if you go that fast - I would!)

If you'r towing slow down gradually and give the person behind plenty of notice unless you want him sitting in the seat beside you. It's important for him to turn on the ignition just to release the steering lock as it can cause immense damage if you don't.

yes you can but if you want your warranty to still be applicable, check the manufacturers instructions on how your car should be towed.
