Anyone know where I can exchange some old shillings and two shillings for brand spanking new money?
OH bought some jars of money when buying my Christmas present and having sorted them out I am wondering if the bank will exchange them.
I have bagged them up as you would today,ie £5 of shillings in a bag,but still not too sure if we should get rid.
Anyone actually exchanged old for new(money that is!)
Thanks

not too sure that you can,depending how old,try banks
Banks won't change them. Try a coin dealer.
Banks wont take them.
The last boot sale i went to, a chap was selling old money, threepenny bits etc, and they were selling well
Some charities might be glad of them.!
lol he bought you some money for christmas! Thoughtful :)
my young son has bags of pre decimal and foreign coins which he wont part with. Perhaps they might be worth something one day, when hes older, or perhaps not :>}
Ive told him he could probably give them to a charity as a bank may honour them then
You can buy a book which gives the value of coins ayabrea, in any good book shop for a few pounds.
Depending on the year of issue and condition some are worth a few bob.
There might even be a web site that can give you some help on that.
