My journey postponed this afternoon as it's still tipping it down here in Dundee and have heard that Angus is worse. Hope it turns to rain soon. Never thought I'd wish for rain lol.
It's been snowing in Stockton for a couple of hours now. Was drifting on a quite strong breeze, but it seems to have dropped slightly and it's starting to lay.
Anybody give an update on what is happening in Lancashire and the M6 please? As I am due to set off northbound shortly and the TV weather is saying blizzards and up to 15cm snow.
Had to go down town for some stuff we'd ordered and there was a very light snowfall and not settling, now it's quite heavy and settling, still the cars parked and the heating's turned up and we've not got to go out so it can do what it wants.
been snowing for an hour here in north Notts. How long will it be for the excitable teachers to send the kids home in case they get trapped in 20ft snowdrifts. What a bunch of t******
Shoota, where are you setting off from?
The first hand report I just got was that Wigan/Preston stretch of M6 was fine, its a bit sleety further North (Lancaster) and the wind is picking up. The B roads are "sludgie" but there is little snow falling currently and it isnt sticking.
Hope thats useful (bear in mind this was a report from 1-2hrs ago)
We had a couple on inches this morning (Glasgow area), started snowing at 7am, stop at noon-ish, rained a bit, back to sleet and if what's left freezes tonight, we'll need ice-skates.
jd_ I am going to Barça next week, love the place (Mr N won flights and posh hotel for 3 days in Cancer raffle). But as we haven't really had a winter yet it could start anytime inc March, good luck!
I've knocked it on the head for today thanks JD, I'm travelling from near Heathrow to the Nelson area so, according to all reports I'd be heading into blizzards, ice and certain doom and destruction.
I'll have a rethink in the morning.
Thanks for you efforts.
