Hazel Eyes

What colour is hazel? This word is only ever used to describe eye-colour, never the colour of a dress, or a wall, or anything else, I've no idea what colour it is.

I've always defined them as being a greenish brown. My dad had hazel eyes...whereas mine are a very deep brown-almost black.

That's my eye colour (I think), not dark enough to be brown, and not green enough to be green.

Hazel eyes are due to a combination of Rayleigh scattering and a moderate amount of melanin in the iris' anterior border layer.[4][28] Hazel eyes often appear to shift in color from a brown to a green. Although hazel mostly consists of brown and green, the dominant color in the eye can either be brown/gold or green. I say my eyes are hazel, they're like the end of Pastas posts - brown around the pupil and green on the outside.

My mum and sister have hazel eyes. Sometimes they look brown, sometimes they look green. Mums has a hint of yellow in them and also has, what we call, freckles in her eyes.

My nan and my great nan had them as well. They look interesting.

My OH has strange colour eyes. They are a mixture of blue, green and brown.
