Advice Please

Chief Stout [my better half] is an inpatient in King Georges hospital Goodmayes.Essex, he is totally blind in the early hours of yesterday morning he was attacked by the patient in the next bed, as he cant see it was extremely frightening for him and he called for help and the nurses came running, half an hour later the same patient was rifing through his hospital locker, the night before that they had to call security to the same man.
I demanded they move hubby and they did, but I want to make an official complaint but to the top, I dont want to mess around with PALS who will sit on and do nothing, who do I send the complaint to pls ?
I hope this doesnt annoy you tilly but I just want some advice.

p.s. Dee,.....I kept a diary of all OH's admissions and experiences in hospital, good and bad. It covered eleven years but was invaluable when there was a hearing at the end. Consider it. x

the NHS has a rigorous complaints system. If you write to the chief exec, all that will happen is that his PA will open in, then pass it to pals/complaints. They have to acknowledge within 2 working days, and prepare a response by 21 (i think) working days (this will be the result of the investigation)

thanks everyone, just off to hospital now, cant let him leave as he is having intravenous antibiotics twice daily that finishes on Monday, they told him on yesterday that he would not be going home for a "good few more days", he is a diabetic and though the cellulitus has not got worse it hasnt got better either and the small ulcer on leg is still weeping.I must say the medical side is good.Just made him two cornish pasties to cheer him up.

astibus just got back from the hospital,I found your thread fascinating reading but because he is a bad diabetic and a renal patient I dont think he would chance it. He is in much better spirits now he has been moved away from the violent man[ age about 65 and english], we pity the poor guy who is currently next to him.

Write a short stern to the point letter to the chief exec, and tell them you want this dealt with asap, otherwise you will take it to the press. He will then proceed to give the letter to pals, and tell them to get it sorted asap. It works better this way. I know, i was a pa for a CEO a time ago, and we always got this kind of letters, he was adamant to get it dealt with quickly.

I found it really facinating too, as I knew a lady once with a fairly intractable leg ulcer whose rather unconventional nurse dressed it daily with Complan and it worked.
I have been thinking about you and CS's ordeal all day. I really hope you pursue your complaint.
