his new tv show he has on sunday. It showed him in America with a lady making an apply pie, she added cornflower to it.? What did she add it too.? I wasn't quick enough to see it all.

maybe something like that, i just googled applie pie with cornflower (cornstarch it came up as) and loads came up

The cornFLOUR was probably added as a thickening agent-so the juiciness of the apples did not make the pastry soggy...I guess.
Not something I'd ever do.
