I have some real life experience of Southern African police. I lived in Zambia for 3 years , one morning I was woken up by the sound of someone trying to break in to the house, I was on my own. I phoned the police only to be told ''Sorry we have no transport, can you come to the police station and collect 2 officers ?''
I pointed out that the criminals were outside the house trying to smash the security bars on the windows to get in , so they were not very likely to let me out and wait around while I drove the police back to arrest them. They still just said they had no transport to get to me . I then phoned my mate who was the driver of the local fire engine , he jumped into the fire engine and came down the road with the 'Blues and 2s ' going , the gang heard him and ran off.
The South African police are very little better the officer Botha was drunk and a passenger in a police car when he saw a taxi with 7 people in it . He grabbed his machine gun and fired at the taxi , killing all 7 people on board. His excuse was that he though they were criminal trying to escape. Despite this he was still on active duty until he was removed after the disastrous court appearance. Unfortunately there is still active discrimination in SA but it is now carried out by the ruling black elite against the rest of the black population , the Afrikaans are still very powerful. As 'The Independent' said yesterday the ANC ( African National Council ) only stopped the gravy train long enough to jump on !
