Car Insurance Companies
5 Answers
As I am trawling through quotes on various comparison websites, I am thinking to myself, how can an insurance company ensure return custom these days? If you are like me, you shop around every year. I am on my 4th insurance company in 6 years as the existing comapny's quote is often beaten, and beaten considerably.
For the exact same policy, with £50 - £100 less compulsary excess, I have found quotes £75-£200 cheaper online (with large reputable companies).
Madness.

My renewal is cheaper this year, and i'm happy with the price and service, so i haven't looked around. So what if i can get it £30 cheaper? My hourly rate is around £20 and it'll take me a couple of hours to scout out new prices, so it doesn't make financial sense to me :)
I have in the past glanced at the renewal price and thought "Great thats cheaper than last year!" and accepted the renewal price.
One year, for example (with Aviva, formerly Norwich Union) I was quoted £780, down from £840, though, fair enough. But eventually got a price of £610 for exactly the same quote from Liverpool Victoria. The following year LV wanted £635 and I moved on again. This pattern has repeated its self for about 5 years now
