20 minutes on a train from Highgate village: (???) If I tell you its basement restaurant is an unusual place to take a spot of kidney punch , you will instantly know for what this place is really famous (boxing). Its origins go back to at least the 10th century, (???) but this version (???) was built between 1956 and 1962. Before the war, the BBC broadcast something that is part and parcel of this building as a time signal (???).
Can anyone please help with the exchanging of the (???) with facts? Many thanks in advance.Lm

This, I pretty sure, is Alexandra Palace but I would like to tie up these loose ends by knowing more about the reataurant and gym conection and the time signal thing -that may have something to do with the BBC's old 2LO .
Thanks again for your help last night. Lm
Hi Leo, I live within sight of both Alexandra Palace and (at a stretch from the rooftop) Highgate station. There's no line between the two now, it was closed many years ago. But even on the worst days it's only a couple of miles, and wouldn't have taken 20 mins.
Are you looking for four separate answers here? I'd perhaps look around Blackfriars for the boxing connection. That's about 20 minutes away, if you time the trains well, and they're running fast.
Thanks Shane for the link -I'll take another look when M'Lady gets through chatting to her cousin in Patagonia!
Also thanks to CJP for your interest. I am nosey about the basement restaurant with boxing connection. And the fact that its orgin goes back to the 10th century. I think I may have the Time Signal thing.
What a nuisance is this old pal of the media, that sez: "No correspondence will be entered into"
Many thanks again to you both - what a friendly idea this AB site is. (More later -rest assured!)
