Mio 268 not 268+

I have just bought a Mio 268 Satellite navigation, with it came a MioMap v2.0 DVD disc along with upgrade instructions. I am stuck on a few of some details which are a bit unclear.

1. How do you load the empty SD card with the firmware file, if you use the actual device at what stage do you remove the Map card?

2. If you do use the device to download, why does it say (at step 2) Insert the memory card containing the file into the SD socket of the device ,if it is already in the device.

Please can anyone help if they had bought a Mio 268 and have completed the download.
