Pdf Viewing Problems...
4 Answers
I have Adobe reader installed, but I use Nuance to do most PDF stuff
I am on Win 7 (64bit)
i have an awful lot of duplicates on my machine which i am gradually working through and deleting.
However every single time i start a session of deleting, i can highlight a PDF and see a preview in the side window, which is great because some of the duplicates are corrupt so i have to check which ones i delete to make sure i am left with one working version.
it either shows an image or the words 'this file cannot be previewed' - so i delete that one.
this works for a short time, 5-10 minutes or so - and then the preview just stops completely!
Just nothing happens when i highlight the PDFs.
i need to be able to see them without having to open every single one as we are talking about 50,000 PDFs (over all my PCs and hard drives)
Any idea why this keeps happening?
thanks

yes it is, im still slowly but surely getting rid of the extra files.
i am searching an internal drive on the machine - there are two though and i am not searching the one that contains the OS, but the DATA one.
I will have to clean up the external ones too at some point though.
i dont fully understand what you mean though methyl ... could you explain a bit further please?
and what i can do about it?

the duplicate are not caused by back up files.
the disk they are on is the internal laptop hard drive and the external hard drive is a brand new one, that i have copied across, and a smaller portable internal one - as well as two other laptops, none of these drives have ever failed.
but this is not the question i have asked - i want to be able to view the PDF thumbnails all the time ... but the preview facility just stops after 5 mins or so.
can anyone tell me why and how i can keep it working?
