Hi Mags, that's children for you. The rest of mine are very mindful of where they are and who can hear them, but thing 1 is clueless about what's appropriate (out of the mouth of babes and all that). I just engineer situations so that she doesn't have the chance to see something/someone that might take her interest.
There is a woman who lives near me who has a visitor the size of a house, a large detached house at that. Last time she came a little girl (also a visitor of some one else) said. No better not say or I will be thrown out of here. It wasn't pleasant though.
Still not sure where the dictionary came in but your story reminded me of the time I saw a lady in the park sitting in a fold up chair. She filled it so fully that when she stood up it went with her.
