Pureed/extremely Soft Food Ideas Needed Please
36 Answers
My husband has lost half a stone in a week due to not being able to swallow foods. For example, he's only had 505 calories today. He can only manage scrambled egg (only with a drink and that can be a struggle), soup, tiramisu, skips, yoghurts, smoothies, mash potato (but only if it has sauce over it).
He is losing his appetite and is scared to eat things as he's choking on them. We are really struggling to think of foods he could eat? What foods blend well?
He's having a barium swallow today and waiting for a SALT assessment. Thank you.

website here with lots of info you can also order direct. If your husband isn't diabetic, maxijule neutral (natural) is useful as you can add it to anything as it has no flavour and very little texture. Maxijule is glucose based (calories from sugar) Calogen is fat based. The info about calories, protein, fat and so on is all there, it just takes some searching. The fat based ones often are best served very cold.

Awww MissC, thinking of you and sending my very best wishes. Try not to feel guilty about eating your food, you need to keep strong and healthy to look after MrC. Here are a few ideas of mine, hope they help.
Make a full fat creamy cheese sauce to pour over the mashed potato.
Add some pulses to the soups and blend it well before you serve.
Add some cream for extra calories.
Creamy white sauce with mashed avacado
Blend banana into chocolate milk for a nutricious and tasty drink.
Blend his favourite fruits with ice cream for a rich smoothie.
Blancmange made wih full fat milk
Full fat greek yoghurt with honey.

Thank you again. We're laughing now because everytime I cuddle my husband, the dog gets really jealous and gets in the middle licking our faces. Dogs are wonderful for cheering you up :)
I know, he tells me not to feel guilty and is even trying to get me to eat some chocolate. Wonder if he's read my post from the other day! He did have an ice cream sundae from McD earlier which isn't healthy to eat all the time but it's calories which is important. He had that after he had the test done.
Gonna try and think positive this weekend and hope they do find out what's causing it.
You're all so lovely and caring on here xx
