Help, my 16 closer to 17 year old son, wants to go to the Reading festival with two of his friends.

Does anyone now how safe it is, I would say neither he or his mates are streetwise.

Safe as any of the major festivals. A bit of Common Sense and they'll be fine.
99.456343 % of gig goers are sound as a pound. He will be fine
is that approx Mick?
I would allow my son to go but not allow him to take valuables or too much money with him.
A couple of years ago my daughter lost her new mobile at Glastonbury. Someone found it and returned it !!!
I first went in 1982, (when it was a proper rock festival), telling my mother I was staying at my mate John's house overnight while, strangely, John told his folks he was staying at mine. Bearing in mind Belfast was ablaze at the time and we were barely allowed to cross town, and add in the fact they all found out the morning after we left, it was probably safer fir us not to go home.

Seriously though, parents aside, it was a great weekend and very safe. Well organised, even back then, and lots of facilities, stewards and police.

87.439% of all statistics are made up.
he needs to pack a sledge so that the beer glides over the mud, other than that, he doesn;t need to be streetwise as it's not held in a street it's in a field
My son is going. He would have just turned 17.

I've never been to reading but I have been to Glastonbury. There are quite a lot of police and security guards. Like Daffy says, no valuables.
I think my elder son went with a few mates when he was about that age.
Agree with daffy about valuables. Tents are not very secure.
Son loves music but the toileting etc arrangements put him off festivals! I think they have improved since 2000!
Yoga, yes they have improved. Glastonbury now gets the toilets emptied 2 -3 times a day.

Still disgusting though.
Yes ummm thought so. Better!!
