Neil Hamilton springs to mind.
I have many problems with Prescott and he may be a bit thick but he has least seen the real world unlike many pampered Oxbridge lawyers who fill the benches (on all sides i might add)
I don't think JP is thick - i think he has a very poor presentation and personal image, which neither he nor his party seek to address. The idea that assaulting a member of the public is 'just John's way ...' was utterly unacceptable, as is his inability to deliver more than to coherent consecutive sentences.
What JP needs is either to improve his image, both for his own good, and especially the good of the party, or move over and put someone else in his position.
With Cameron in place, and Kennedy jetisoned, the public's patience with 'lovable men-of-the-people' is over - it's time to shape up, or, in the best traditions of JP's former maritime career - ship out.
Not sure if he's still there, but the Tories' Terry Dicks MP was once described by the (sadly now, late) Tony Banks as being "living proof that a bladder on a stick can be elected".
There are many MPs more stupid then JP (degrees from Hull University and Ruskin College, Oxford, I believe). If academic achievement is a criterion, then the Rt Hon John Major, who served as Prime Minister, was one such.
Perhaps the terms of the debate should be clarified?
