F1 on startup

When I first power up it gets so far then have to 'F1 to sesume' everything then continues and 98SE loads in fine. Anybody got any ideas how to make it load up without doing the F1 thing evertime.

Assuming it is not a BIOS problem (failing battery with the "using default settings" type of error message), I have seen this caused by a failing hard drive. We replaced the faulty HDD and it no longer prompted us with F1. If it is a BIOS problem, try replacing the CMOS battery or, if that doesn't work, replacing the mainboard.
