The FIFA World Cup in Qatar may be moved to winter 2022 after concerns were expressed about summer temps there, which have reached 50 degrees in the past.

But surely this sort of event would have been discussed and concerns expressed by Mr Blatter et al when they made their successful bid?
Or we're FIFA officials blinded by the filthy luchre that was undoubtedly offered from that tiny, soccer mad nation steeped in footballing history?

proof if ever it was needed that money talks. they said at the time of the rigged voting that they would 'cool the stadiums'. How can moving it to winter and disrupting almost all league seasons work ? hardly fair on the other bidding nations

They had already decided who was going to get the WC and knew that they would have to rearrange it for winter.
The whole process was a fix and large bursting brown envelopes would most definitely been involved.

this is not a surprise, far from it in fact
I am told the final score , and in which half, has already been sent to the printers.
Amusing, NJ. Last European Championships, Antibes and Cannes both had restaurants and bars advertising, by placards outside, that they had no football. They were doing good and profitable business; the clients who don't want football eat better, drink more expensively, and all for longer than the soccer fans do.
Why are we so insular? Many European countries have summer football, including some not that far away, and I would be all for a winter break in the UK apart from one thing; our bl00dy weather is so unpredictable that we could end up prolonging the season if, for example, we took a break in January and it was fine, then snowed all of February.

Having said that, the Qatar (and Russia) World Cup awards were deeply corrupt (I'm still waiting on FIFA suing David Conn, but they won't, because his book was spot on). Sky money will have a big say in any decision on this, and it is still damned warm out there in winter. We used to kick off at 21:30 to protect our pasty delicate Western complexions.
Incidentally, the offical temperature out there allegedly NEVER goes above 49 degrees. Apparently you are entitled to the day off if it does, so all summer days are supposedly recorded as 49 degrees.
50 degree heat.......your passport and your life savings to get any alcohol.....5 years in prison for homosexuals........a country with no knowledge or footballing history what so ever...... one word - FARCE
