I think with blokes it's not so much clothes as 'toys'

the expensive 1980s guitar bought from a vintage guitar shop becomes 'some old thing I found in a second hand shop'

the classic 1970s hi-fi turntable, amp or speakers bought on ebay becomes 'some old thing I bought cheap online'

And while part of The Collection is at home, heaven knows what the OH would say if she saw the overflow at the office!
