"Wonderful news from the northbound platform of the Northern Line at Embankment Tube station. London Underground have reinstated the original Mind the Gap announcement - just so that the widow of the man who said it can go and hear his voice."
That is a lovely story. On the day OH died I was rushing to the hospital in the early hours while he used the mobile to phone home saying......For God's sake come and fetch me out of here before they do any more harm.....to the answer phone. It lasted twenty eight days I think and was so strange to listen to.
When my Dad died, the hospital flew their flag at half mast. He had campaigned for more people to register as organ donors and had managed to sign up over 1000 new people before he died.
I was so touched that the hospital did that for him.
bazile, the Gap, is the result of a change, long ago, in the length of carriages. Some stations had platforms with tight curves. The original carriages were short and fitted the curves tightly. The later ones were much longer and didn't fit. They cut a segment from the curve, leaving a wide gap between the platform and the middle of the carriage
