Blacklight For Cat Pee

Ruddy cat keeps spraying all over the place (I think a neighbour cat is pissing him off). I've bought a feliway to try and calm him down a bit but I'm paranoid about where he might have sprayed that I don't know about (my sense of smell is rubbish).

Are blacklights actually any good at finding spots where he's relieved himself? Anyone used anything like that before?

It has never occurred to me that you could get such a thing, for highlighting where he's been.

Anyway, seems to me he's trying to piss the neighbour's cat off.

I've only today read (in the D Mail,of course) that those big unpleasant smelling lillies that you get in supermarket bouquets are an effective cat deterrent. Could be almost as effective as that remedy thay I got into trouble for posting a few months ago.

Thanks for the recommendations Chris! Definitely cheap enough to give it a go at least.

I always have lilies in my kitchen (from a supermarket as it happens) and aside from the fact they are poisonous to cats (if eaten I believe) they don't deter a bloody thing.

Evian, the problem with cats and lillies is not just that they eat them, but they can rub against them and get the pollen on their fur. It's when they groom themselves that the damage can occur - just be careful x

If you remove the stamens with tweezers that makes the lillies safe for cats.

As for cleaning cat pee - use soap powder and hot water - it does not contain ammonia and is great for getting rid of the smell xx

Michael, those lilies aren't a cat deterrent, the cats like them and they can kill them.

Thanks for the Pets at Home recommendation - I use copious amounts of Neutradol spray myself.

FGT - they said on the news last night that all parts of the lily (leaves etc) are poisonous to cats. My pesky beasts like to chew floral arrangements.

I'm really not too concerned about the cat/lilies. In his 7 years he's only ever gone and sniffed them once (a couple of weeks ago). They're always on the kitchen table and there's nothing up there that interests him. Obviously if he suddenly started going up there I'd get rid of them.
