What's the difference between a pivot and a fulcrum?

The fulcrum is the point around which a lever rotates, the same as the pivot, but pivot is the name given to the physical matter used to make a fulcrum. So a piece of metal bar, or a log can be used as a pivot to provide the required fulcrum to make a lever work.

to imflyingaway, for your information, that question was not my homework (or anyone else's homework for that matter) I was simply wondering what they were.

If you were bright enough 1)you would have been able to clarify the above answer for me

2) and realise that the 1st answer to my post would have sufficed HAD it been a homework question!!!!
