I have today recieved a letter from the courts finance and enforcement unit.
The letter states that I am £160 behind with my fines/court costs and that if it isnt paid within 10 days a warrent may be issued for my arrest etc.
I have paid the £5 a week (set by the magistrates) every week without fail and have all of my reciepts to prove it.
I cant ring up until Monday to sort it but just wondered
1) are the fines department so inneficient that they can loose track of payments? and
2) what would happen if I didnt keep reciepts of my payments?

Given my recent involvement with the justice system im beginning to think a 10 year old could run it better.

Do you pay cash, cheque or direct debit/standing order?

I pay cash at the post office.
If that's the case, then probably something has gone wrong between the Post Office and the court.

And yes, keeping the receipts is vital. A visit to a photocopy shop might be in order, so that you can give them proof should they ask for it.

Good luck with it.

thanks seajay. Just a bit naffed off at the moment with the entire justice system, having been foung guilty in crown court of something I havnt done and then getting a threatening letter in the post saying I havnt paid my fines when I have. Glad I kept my reciepts lol.
I know it's a bit of a pain but always keep receipts, as SeaJay says, you never know when you may need them. Keep calm, monday will soon be here and you can get the problem sorted.
