Jammed Printer Carriage?

have brother 425 printer where, from what i can gather,the carriage has stuck on the right hand side. Recommended by brother that that i take it to agent to repair. Is it a big problem? i.e. expensive, can i do this myself?

have a look at the price of a new printer before you decide anything usually not much more than a set of new inks
