Given the circles the lawyers have our Government running round over Abu Quetada et al., would we ever be able to go as far as the German Government has, and ban these nutters, or is it an infringement of "their" Human Rights.

this is the capital, of course we sometime wonder when the next terrorist bomb might go off, though if you thought about it all the time you wouldn't get anything done.
No problem Em. I knew what you meant.

In my last read 'hordes' not 'hoards'. Smacked legs! :o)

/// That upsets me. I wish you didn’t. I wish you could see AOG’s apparent obsession with colour for what it is – way past its sell-by date ///

I find that both totally insulting and what's more totally incorrect, where have I mentioned colour? And if you had cared to read a past post of mine this week ironically directed at sp1814, you would have noticed that I said exactly what you have said regarding culture not being a colour issue.

And for your information it was sp1814 who made reference to black men as he usually does, which makes me wonder if he has some kind of chip on his shoulder.
AOG, //I find that both totally insulting and what's more totally incorrect//

Really? Can't think why.

Thanks I have just spotted your post putting that person in place, some just get some twisted enjoyment having cheap digs at me

But I noticed that she hasn't done the honourable thing and issued an apology.
best to put that to bed, i think that sometimes you over egg the pudding, let it lie..
Ultimately this is not about race, and not necessarily about culture but about Values and Beliefs.

I accept that they are often associated but they aren't inextricably connected.

For example, some Muslims might believe that people who fail to follow the 'true religion' have lives that are of no value and would be better off dead - but many people from Islamic culture don't believe that.

Some people from other 'cultures' are like Dr Harold Shipman who seems to have believed that whilst helping most patients was the right thing to do, some of his older patients had lives that were relatively without value and would be better off dead.

We need to ensure that whatever cultural background people come from, the Values and Beliefs they have instilled are in tune with the prevailing values and beliefs that most people in this society have displayed for many years, tolerance in particular.

Anyone - from any culture - who is indoctrinating or encouraging Values and Beliefs that conflict with that should be marginalised and if necessary, excluded from positions that provide opportunity to influence others.
Zeuhl, //I accept that they are often associated but they aren't inextricably connected.//

True they aren’t necessarily inextricable connected, but more often than not they are most definitely associated.
*inextricably
strange to use Shipman, he was a middle class doctor, no one knows his true reasons for killing all those people... he was a murderer of totally innocent people.
indeed em

but demonstrably, saving the lives of people fulfilled Shipman's Values and Beliefs

and so did taking the lives of others

Maybe he had the same motivations for doing both
there is a programme on tonight about him strangely enough...
