Usb Chargers

I have a charger for each of my 'gadgets' such as satnav, camera, phone, tablet.

Some of these seem to be interchangeable, the phone cable fits the tablet, for example.

Is it safe to interchange the chargers? It would make going on holiday much easier and clear some of this cable clutter away.

All USB connections provide a 5V DC supply (with the polarity the same way round). If you're simply referring to a cable that goes between a USB socket and an external device then, as long as the connector on the other end fits, they're fully interchangeable.

However if you're referring to a mains-powered adapter that supplies a USB socket, some provide more current (without overheating) than others. Look for the power rating (e.g. 1A or 2A) on the adapter; if you always use the higher-powered ones you'll have no problems.

If using a mains powered one then I'd check both the voltage and the current settings of supply capability and gadget requirements just to be on the safe side.

Also check them before you go. When I changed my mobile the plug size changed but the charging requirements were the same, so I bought an adaptor, and have to say it is not a perfect connection every time, lead needs fiddling with occasionally.

:-) I just noted the title refers to USB. When one refers to mains chargers USB seems not to be to the forefront of my mind.
