Is there a way to stop the charms appearing every time I move onto the touch pad from the left?

The only way I know:
Buy and install Start8 from Stardock
Configure Start8 to take you straight to the Desktop when you log in.
Under the Desktop setting in Start8, check Disable charms bar when at Desktop
