I have made a potato topped fish bake for tonight. I want to eat half and freeze the other is this OK? the fish has already been cooked in milk and spices so re-heating will be the 3rd time the fish is cooked.
I don't agree that it is OK to reheat the third time. Take a portion out. It is right that it will split slightly when it is frozen. It may be worth taking the potato off and stirring an egg yolk through the sauce to stabilize it. Then put the potato top back on.
Take a look here for more info about the dangers of re-heating. I know it is only Google answers but it does refer to an official USA government information site.

best advice i can give you is before cooking the pie, split into two dishes, one for the freezer ,and one for the oven, that way ,the frozen pie (FISH) will only have been cooked twice when reheated (must be to at least 84 degrees)never reheat food more than once.hope this helps.enjoy your pie!
I agree with totoise, that's how we do it. However, like you, I cook the fish first before adding the potato topping. It's always been fine when I reheat it from frozen.
Sorry humbersloop, but your advice is wrong, and actually very dangerous, especially where fish is concerned, you have just given the go ahead to cook a protein more than three times, naughty, naughty naughty.
