Cabbage only diet
can anyone shed some light onto the cabbage only diet?
I am told you're supposed to only follow this diet for a week. if so how much weight would i be likely to lose?

It was a soup diet that was very structured as to what you could eat each day of the week. I did lose weight on it, but as I was so hungry most of the time and missed proper food I put it all back on when the diet had finished.
You are better to eat healthy, loads of fruit and veg and drink lots of water. This is what I am doing at the moment and it is working. I try to go to the gym at least 4 times a week and contrary to my expectations I am enjoying it.
Steer well clear of any diet fads that advise sticking to only one or a few foods. It's simply not healthy. You need a varied diet. Did you see the first episod of the new Paul McKenna series that started the other night? He advises that you stick to four simple guidlines, and there's no doubt other advice to follow in the next three weeks. The simple rules are:
Eat when you're hungry. (Most of us eat because it's meal time, or everyone else it eating, or the ice cream looks good so we'll have some of that even though we've just had a nice meal, etc. You should only eat when you actually feel hungry.)
Eat what you like. (Punishing yourself by making certain foods out-of-bounds just makes them more attractive, and so you suffer cravings. When nothing's in that category, you'll stop craving them so much, but you can still enjoy them if you want to.)
Eat consciously. (Don't wolf it down, eat it slowly and enjoy every mouthful. Become aware of your eating and you'll soon be able to judge whether you're actually hungry, or just eating out of habit. Put your knife and fork down between mouthfuls!)
When you're full, Stop! (If you're overweight, you probably eat fast, wolf it down, and miss the 'I'm full!' message that you're body's giving you. Get used to stopping, even if you're not sure you're full yet. Let your body become re-educated.)
These are age-old, common sense rules, but we've largely forgotten them because of fast food, the diet industry, eating 'on the hoof', eating while we're watching TV, reading the paper, etc., etc.
Try the guidelines, see the difference. It works. Stop weighing yourself all the time and worrying about it. Stop the fad dieting. Enjoy your food. Give yourself a break. Okay, end of rant!
Any diet that sticks to one or two foods is wrong and can be very dangerous, especially as the body is used to different food intake.
Also try drinking water or liquids when you feel hungry, sometimes what we think is hunger is actually thirst. but stick to guidlines set by snook they seem pretty accurate!
