Whilst it is also true that the Cypriot government has not been the most prudent their hands are also tied by membership.
The Euro and its implementation is very flawed and has to change to work, but that would probably hit the Germans so is unlikely to happen. To think that two Economies such as Germany and Cyprus and co exist is lunacy.

Regardless of whom you think was the culprit in Cyprus's woes, making it a pre-condition of any bailout loan that they raid individual savings accounts is an extremely draconian measure, and very undemocratic too.
(Although this measure has not actually been introduced as yet, has it? It has been proposed but not presented for a vote)
And it has been a pretty appalling way of handling the whole business - effectively denying your population access to ready cash for several days over a busy weekend whilst you make your mind up what to do....
