My boyfriend is re spraying his plastic panels on his pit bike they've been cleaned, sanded and primed and then left to dry. Coated fine and left to dry again, then when lacquered the paint keeps cracking. However some of the other panels have cracked with just paint and no lacquer. Why is this and how can it be fixed?
As Chas says and assuming he's using a rattle can and not a gun one cause of cracking is applying the topcoat too thick in one hit which causes the film to pull itself apart as it dries
If that is the case try to build up the colour gradually with lots of light passes rather than a couple of heavy ones
Alternatively are the plastic panels flexing / being moved...
It is primer meant for plastic however docSausage i think you may be right.. hes a bit, shall we say 'eager' to get it finished and i'm pretty sure hes spraying it too thick!! Thanks for your answers guys :)
