I am new fan - what album shall i go for ?

I adore Depeche Mode.
I haven't heard the new one yet so I don't know what style you fell in love with but my two personal favourites are Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion.
Music for the Masses is excellent too.

I just love their brooding electronics sounds and haunting melody...soo cool, cant get enough of them !

Agree with Mojo. What songs have you heard and are they from the same era? They first made it big in 1981 with a slightly twee sound and have evolved significantly over the years.

Maybe even try a 'best of' for size.

I see you like the earlier stuff Bongo.
They are in all probability my favourite band with Talk Talk coming a close second.
I saw every tour from 1981? (can't remember) to 2003.

Depeche Mode are a band of two halves - like Fleetwood Mac.

You can go for the current dark stadium rock which is wonderful, or the early synth pop which is also killer, but in a completely different way.

For the early stuff, check out the 'Singles 81-85' (I think) collection, and marvel how the same band can make the music they do now.

can't get enough - pun intended or not? that's THE track, though a personal fave is Everything Counts

I think I'm torn for a favourite, but a couple of tracks do spring to mind.
World In My Eyes...oooohhhhh (melt)
Strangelove. It's just so catchy.
In Your Room - The album version not the single. DM at their best.
Somebody - Again the album version. I don't like Martin Gore's voice anymore but it used to be beautiful.
