I have a new pair on order from Dolland and Aitchison. Went in to get them 'fitted' Saturday only to find they were not the right prescription for me. I had driven to Peterboro for this, to be told I'd have to come back in a week. Also I had to have a 'teach' on looking after them which they couldn't do on Saturday. What a kerfuffle! Got me to thinking, how do the internet contact lenses sites get around all of this? Also they said they won't give me my contact lens prescription, only a specs prescription, should I choose to take my custom elsewhere. Any ideas/help>?

I personally would take my custom else where. Why can't they give you a contact lens prescription? My optician does and I them take it to wherever is cheapest to get my lenses! I have had lenses for 20+ years so can't remember the 'fitting'.

The internet sites I have been on all ask for the prescription details and the name of your optician and then I think that they contact your optician to verify the details.

I use daily disposables and only use internet sites now. I was using Dolland and Aitcheson before and paying 39 per month. Now I get them for 19 per month...big saving.

Once you get your prescription do a search on the web under contact lenses and you'll find plenty of sites offering them for sale. Unless you have a very diificult prescription it should be easy to get what you want.

Definitely go elsewhere. They ought to have had every type of lens prescription in stock and you should have walked out of there wearing them.

I asked my optician to write down my lens prescription alongside my glasses prescription as I too buy my lenses online. They're much cheaper, arrive by post within two days and you can get coloured ones if you like.

Good luck!

Apparantly these babies are gonna set me back 25 per month!!!!!!!!!! I reckon I'll do the one month free offer then go online.
i was with Dollond and Aitchison. They wouldnt give me my prescription either and i ended up paying a fortune for my glasses. I have since been to specsavers and i find them both very helpful and very reasonable.

gilby I guess they were right all along, I should have gone to specsavers! (ho ho)
Look on your contact lenses packaging - my prescription is clearly marked there.
