I was thinking exactly the same.
Oxfam have been going for over 60 years and, along with all the other aid charities, seem to have achieved next to nothing. The people we are supposed to be aiding should be living in the lap of luxury by now.

Comic relief has funded a domestic abuse support service here whose work has been invaluable.

It's all a drop in the ocean compared with our GDP and compared with what's needed. A billion pounds over maybe 30 years isn't much. It really only scratches the surface. I must admit I sometimes wonder whether some of the aid is really helping or just perpetuating the problems of famine.
