For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I was 6 at the time,and ladybird mentioning that it started on boxing day,suddenly made me remember that there was great family disappointment my father was unable to drive to collect my cousins,to bring them to our house to watch the pantomime. The only other thing i remember,is that a local lake froze completely,and we were taken to see people skating on it. It's never happened since,but,every time we drive past that lake,I can still see myself,in the car,watching those skaters:-)

Good to see you jacklee. We need some new blood on this site no matter how old you are.
I remember the freeze, certainly, but from a different angle to everyone else. I emigrated to Australia in August 1962 when I was 18 years old but saw all the reports on tv and had letters from home.
I returned home in time for my 21st birthday in May 1965. Got homesick.
